CURRENT RELEASES

2017 SINGLE VINEYARD ‘THE HILL’ SHIRAZ

96 POINTS - Lovely rich cherry-red colour in the glass. Blood plum, cedar and roasting pan juices on the nose. There’s a fine & precise flow to the wine as it glides across the palate. Medium weighted & supple but offering both vibrant red & purple fruits along with complex smoky spice notes. Tannins work in harmony with the fruit, carrying it very long & allowing a fan of flavour to linger at the finish. A delight to enjoy Hunter shiraz like this.”

2022 GRUNER VELTLINER

91 POINTS - “Very light colour with a straw-hay & gently savoury, toasted-nut bouquet , a 'wild' balsamic note too. The wine is light & dry, delicate & crisply refreshing, lemony & dry-balanced, & there is subtle detail here that could emerge further with another year or so.”
Huon Hooke, THE REAL REVIEW, Jan ‘24

2021 ‘75 DayS’ CHARDONNAY

90 POINTS - “The wine does what the label says & gives us a chardonnay from Hunter Valley that spends 75 days on skins before being pressed off & rested some more. Great to see this experimentation outta the noble Hunter region.

It dials up a lot of flavour & character, lemon curd, ripe apple, dried apple, honeycomb, pickled onion, ginger. Good characters here, a bit edgy in a decent way, quite waxy in texture, a little cloying through the finish but all up an interesting expression with plenty on for young (18+) & old.”

2022 SHIRAZ PINOT

91 POINTS - “Bright, fresh, blue fruit driven along with spice, earth, sap, bramble & cedar. The palate is crunchy, snappy & all about blueberry, raspberry, tangy acidity & textured, savoury tannins. Punchy, perky & full of life & zip”
Aaron Brasher, THE REAL REVIEW, Jan ‘24

2021 ‘TWENTY SIX ROWS’ CHARDONNAY

“The Hunter Valley is best known for its stellar semillons & shirazes but it is also home to alternative varieties & some excellent chardonnays like this one from Damien Stevens & Jodie Belleville at Pokolbin-based Hart & Hunter. The fruit for this was picked early to ensure bright natural acid & vibrant citrus & green apple fruit flavours. Complexity was added through barrel fermentation & lees stirring, & a small portion of unoaked juice was added to the blend. Pair with pork spare ribs, or maybe some Thai fishcakes.”

PREVIOUS RELEASES

2017 Single VINEYARD ABLINGTON SHIRAZ

95 POINTS - “Mid to deep red colour with a purple tinge. The aromas are savoury, smoky-oaky, spicy & faintly floral, while the palate is elegantly medium-bodied & nicely balanced to enjoy now. Intense red fruits in the centre-palate. Soft, fine tannins; subtle & easy going, with extra length. The fruit does the talking. A very stylish shiraz.”

2021 SHIRAZ PINOT

91 POINTS - “This one has stewed fruit, cranberries & compote cherries, clove with orange spike, it’s aromatic in the mouth, chewy with a pomegranate tang to finish. Tannins have a black tea grip. Blood orange & blood plums make for a sweet-sour mouthfeel. It’s jolly, full-flavoured & very nice to sip on.”
